Low-Water Cutoff Service
Low-water protection helps prevent unsafe boiler operation when water level or system conditions are inadequate. The device, wiring, sensing method, and control response require periodic verification.
Different technologies
Systems may use probe-type, float-type, pressure-based, or integrated electronic protection depending on boiler and application.
Nuisance trips have causes
Water quality, deposits, grounding, wiring, air, pressure, or control logic may create intermittent trips. Bypassing the device is not an acceptable repair.
Functional verification
Testing should confirm the device senses the condition and actually interrupts burner operation as designed.
