Expansion Tank Service
Expansion tanks manage water-volume change as a hydronic system heats and cools. Correct sizing, location, isolation, and pre-charge affect pressure stability and relief-valve operation.
Common symptoms
Pressure swings, relief-valve discharge, air complaints, pump noise, or frequent make-up water can be related to expansion control.
Testing requires isolation
A meaningful pre-charge test requires the water side to be relieved and the tank evaluated in the correct condition. Simply pressing the air valve is not a complete test.
System design matters
Tank selection depends on system water volume, temperatures, fill pressure, relief setting, and fluid type. Glycol systems often require additional allowance.
