Technical heating guide
Emergency No-Heat Diagnostics
No heat can come from the thermostat, power, controls, gas supply, ignition, boiler lockout, pumps, valves, pressure, or distribution system. Safe triage helps prioritize the right service response.
Safe checks only
Confirm the thermostat is calling, the appliance service switch is on, and note the display code. Do not open the cabinet, bypass a safety, or adjust gas components.
Protect the building
In freezing conditions, protect vulnerable plumbing and notify occupants or property management. Use only approved temporary heating equipment according to its instructions.
Gas or CO emergency
For a gas smell or carbon-monoxide alarm, leave the building and call the utility emergency line or 911 from outside before arranging equipment service.
What to send before the visit
- Clear photo of the rating plate and model number
- Photo or exact wording of any error code
- Whether the issue affects space heating, hot water, or both
- When the problem started and whether a reset temporarily restores operation
- Your city and preferred service timing
